The objective, over the two days, is to give the client the basic knowledge and confidence to enjoy a days game shooting and provide them with practical experience.
The course is delivered over two days centered in one of Norh Yorkshires premier countryside Inns, e.g. the Blue Lion in Witton. - www.thebluelion.co.uk

Day 1

• 09.30am - Arrive at The Blue Lion (Check in and coffee)
• 10.00am - BASC Shotgun Proficiency Scheme
• 12.30pm - Lunch – Blue Lion
• 1.30pm - Clay Pigeon Shooting tuition – Warren Gill Shooting Ground
• 3.30pm - Back to Blue Lion – Relax
• 7.00pm - Drinks and dinner – Blue Lion

A Days driven game shooting in the field. Day two concludes with a debrief and a reflection of your experience.

Day 2

• 08.00am - Breakfast and checkout
• 09.00am - Shoot day briefing by Shoot Captain.
• 09.30pm - Move of to the first drive
• 12.30pm - Picnic lunch in the field provided by The Blue Lion
• 1.30pm - Resume to next drive
• 3.30pm - Finish last drive and meet the Keeper
• 3.45pm - Back to Blue Lion for drinks and debrief
• 4.30pm - Depart with the memories

Each Candidate will receive a BASC Certificate of attendance
and Safe Shot Award

The BASC Shotgun Proficiency Scheme (SPS) is designed to ensure candidates will gain a basic understanding of all types of shotgun shooting, the law, shoot management, how to handle and maintain a shotgun to ensure its safe and efficient operation.

Proposed Course content:

An Introduction to the Shotgun

• The features of a shotgun and cartridges
• Cleaning shotguns and the issues and hazards associated with guns in the home and when transporting
• Handling and loading a shotgun correctly

Law and behaviour when live quarry shooting

• The law in relation to the possession of a shotgun
• The legal requirements for shooting birds and animals
• Conduct and behaviour when game shooting including BASC Safe Shot

Game and Rough Shooting

• Rough shooting and formal driven shooting
• The principles of formal driven game shooting
1. On the Day
2. Before the drive starts
3. During the drive
4. At the end of the day

Each Candidate will receive a BASC Certificate of attendance
and Safe Shot Award

Based at one of the north´s leading country inns, this two day courses aim to equip you with the knowledge and skills to enjoy a day´s game shooting.

The course is suitable for beginners through to experienced guns. Cartridge and guns can be provided.
